This was the museum I went to often in my childhood. I'm no longer able to visit unless I visit family, but this place holds a special place in my heart.

As stated in the article, they hold around 7 million artifacts- many of which are orphaned fossils, with the museum taking in collections that otherwise would have been trashed.

Please consider buying a Paleozoic Pal, but I'll also leave a direct donation link as well.

I JUST WENT INTO A FUGUE STATE AND BOUGHT ME A 16 INCH CUDDLE BUDDY WITH PLATED TEETH!! DUNKIE, MY BELOVED!!

Screeching aside, anyone who can afford to, go look through their shop! They got clothes, and cute gifts, and books and all kinds of other awesome stuff! Ye, the shipping sucks, but we need to keep our museums alive! (the good ones, not the British Museum of Thievery XP)

HE’S HERE! MY BIG BOY IS HERE!! (And yes he is my BIG boy despite only being 16 inches, you shush!)

He took nearly a month to get here, but that’s because of ALL THE ORDERS THEY’VE BEEN GETTING! OVER 1800 ORDERS! This is why I love the online community!!

Now if you don’t mind I’m going to tuck Duncan into my sweater and go work on the piles of stuff I still have to do 😅

For anyone curious what's happening with the PRI they're digging themselves out! An anonymous donor gave them $1 mn which they used to secure a stay on the forclosure for the rest of the year and they're approximately a third of the way to buying their way out of the mortgage.

Honestly not being a killjoy, but do we have photos on what the protests were like in Republican territory? That seems more significant than the numbers in liberal zones like DC/NYC/Boston/Portland/Philly/etc.

This is a photo from the protest I attended at the KS Capitol building in Topeka as well as estimates from a local group as to the size of protests around the state.

Thousands in NYC protest the genocidal bombing of Gaza

By Struggle-La Lucha New York bureau

Thousands marched through the streets of midtown Manhattan tonight to protest the renewed genocidal bombing of Gaza. An estimated 400 Palestinians, including 175 children, were killed by the Zionist apartheid state using U.S.-made bombs and planes.

Mohammed El Kurd's book Perfect Victims is on sale through Haymarket books for only $5.99 for an ebook or $14.36 for paperback (with ebook included).

This is not an affiliate link, I just wanted to share. Summary:

Perfect Victims is an urgent affirmation of the Palestinian condition of resistance and refusal―an ode to the steadfastness of a nation.

Palestine is a microcosm of the world: on fire, stubborn, fragmented, dignified. While a settler colonial state continues to inflict devastating violence, fundamental truths are deliberately obscured—the perpetrators are coddled while the victims are blamed and placed on trial.

Why must Palestinians prove their humanity? And what are the implications of such an infuriatingly impossible task? With fearless prose and lyrical precision, Mohammed El-Kurd refuses a life spent in cross-examination. Rather than asking the oppressed to perform a perfect victimhood, El-Kurd asks friends and foes alike to look Palestinians in the eye, forgoing both deference and condemnation.

How we see Palestine reveals how we see each other; how we see everything else. Masterfully combining candid testimony, history, and reportage, Perfect Victims presents a powerfully simple demand: dignity for the Palestinian.

If you have a local library, most have the ability to suggest a purchase. Worth asking them to get the paperback and the e-version if you can, to support the author!

It was Israel, not Hamas, that violated the agreement. On its 16th day, the parties were supposed to begin discussing the second phase, which was supposed to end with the release of all the remaining hostages. Israel refused.

Israel also broke its promise to withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor between the 42nd and the 50th day of the cease-fire. Moreover, Israel announced that it was halting the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and closing the border crossings. This decision, like the energy minister's decision to halt the limited amount of electricity Israel provides to Gaza, explicitly violates Israel's commitment in the agreement that aid will continue entering as long as talks on the second stage are ongoing.

All the proposals that Hamas received from Witkoff stem from Israel's refusal to uphold its part of the deal. Consequently, the attempt to portray Hamas' rejection of Witkoff's proposals as a reason to resume the fighting is nothing but a dishonest manipulation.

Israel – not Hamas – is the one preventing the deal's implementation and the hostages' return.

Maybe I’m just too sensitive to people using Palestinian culture for their own means (or just straight up stealing it) but I do get kinda annoyed when I see artists doing “biblically accurate” depictions of figures from Christianity and clearly using modern Palestinian clothing for it and not mentioning it anywhere. For example a thobe malak isn’t “bible clothing” and not mentioning your references anywhere contributes to the erasure of Palestinian culture. One of the aims of Zionist propaganda is the complete removal of Palestinians from both Palestine and our own cultural and historical narrative. Like sure man, you can use Palestinian clothing for your artwork, but at least say what you are referencing. Stop cutting Palestinians out of the picture because you don’t want to add another sentence to the description

Probably a good time to mention that Palestinian Christian artists deserve to be recognized too. These are some works by Sliman Mansour, who was born to a Catholic Palestinian family, and is arguably one of the most famous Palestinian artists of all time

collage of two images top image shows many people in striped pajama-like clothing confined in small, stacked compartments, labeled 'Dachau, Germany - 1945' bottom image shows many people in white pajama-like clothing, also confined in small, stacked compartments, labeled 'CECOT, El Salvador - 2025.'ALT

The U.S. government is taking people off the street and sending them to the place in the bottom picture without charges filed, no arraignments, no due process and without notifying anyone of the people’s whereabouts.

El Salvador intends to never release anyone from CECOT.

If you listen to this testimony you'll understand why documenting sexual violence against women in Palestinian society is not as heavily talked about as sexual violence against men. A lot of women are told/pressured not to say anything if they are sexually assaulted by Israelis because of the social implications against themselves and the male members of the family.

Sometimes women are not allowed to leave their villages without men in Palestine, like my grandmother couldn't leave without her dad or brother while she was in Palestine but outside it she freely came and went where ever. My other grandma left her village and studied as a nurse in Palestine but only because she was with her sisters and brother. Even in the 90's my mom, who freely went out of Amman and even dormed outside of Amman, where her parents lived, she had to go with her younger brother to visit Jerusalem (the only time she ever went to Palestine as an adult) because her family was so scared she would be in danger from Israelis.

Like it's an unspoken knowledge that Israelis can and will sexually assault you at checkpoints or just randomly and no one even cared for 75 years, which is why talking about how israelis face sexual assault from Palestinians is so bewildering because it's like a complete reversal of reality. Even my parents are worried to let me visit Palestine with an American passport because they dont want something to happen to me at a checkpoint. It's so shocking to me that no one cares about the sexual violence Palestinians face when it permeates literally every aspect of Palestinian society.

Other people already said it but sending immigrants to El Salvador is not a deportation but a kidnapping. Deportation is sending a person to their country of origin. This is something worse.

And think about what happens to these people who have no El Salvador citizenship once they arrive there and how they cannot leave El Salvador. First off, the US and El Salvador governments have to have an agreement otherwise El Salvador would not accept these people. Secondly, they are ending up in literal "Mega-Prisons" to do God knows what. They can't leave the country even if they were free since they likely have no documentation/money after being snatched up from their homes in the US. They are deporting people with no criminal record and this is really just the definition of human trafficking.
